Janek Gwizdala Podcast

A friend of mine that I saw at the EIU Alumni Event a few weeks ago found out that I am a big fan of the musical stylings of Janek Gwizdala. He's a great electric bass player in his own right but the guys he gets in his group can really play their ass off (Elliot Mason). What I didn't know was he has a regular, free podcast that is available at http://gwizmon.podmon.com or you can find it on iTunes.

He discusses and covers a range of different musical items. New music from friends and colleagues of his, new arrangements and compositions of his, and discussion of musical/improvisational approaches. The latest track that I am is his most recent one where he discusses varying approaches to playing over a ii-V7-I progressions. It's really great to hear in words how a professional like him moves through changes.

Check out his website too. You can check out his album there (also on iTunes). http://www.janekgwizdala.com/index.html

Bear with me as this is something I recorded from a YouTube track, so it's not perfect. You can even hear me turn up my speakers. This guy is a monster player - in my opinion, one of the top guys right now. Enjoy!

Jon Siddle's Posterous

What you have stumbled upon is the random brain activity that takes the form of a guy who does IT/computer work during the day and is a freelance trombonist in the evenings.

You may not understand the brevity of what you could be getting into in reading this blog. Do you really want to listen to the ramblings of someone who has to deal with people's computer/printer/internet problems all day? And everyone knows what they say about trombone players...

You may find the random thoughts venture toward cigar reviews, writing, music, anything and everything Apple, productivity (or the lack thereof), South Park...the list could go on. You've been warned...
